Steam fish :D
Dimi's on holiday. So that means I need to get my butt into the kitchen.
Dinner menu tonight
- steam fish
- abc soup
- celery with french bean and macademia nuts
- omelette with french beans
- store bought chic wings and shuen choy
My first attempt in steaming fish.
Steps:
- clean fish throughly
- apply salt and pepper on surface and inside of fish
- lay some ginger below the fish (on base of plate), inside the fish and on top of the fish
- pour chinese cooking wine (optional)
- pour soya sauce
- heat a wok of hot water
- when water is boiling, put in the fish and cover the wok
- steam for 8 minutes (depending on size of fish. To test if fish is cooked, open wok cover and try to poke a chopstick thru the fish. If the chopstick can be poked thru easily, fish is cooked)
- once done, sprinkler coriander leaves and ginger slices on top of fish
- heat a pan with 2-3 tablespoons of soya sauce, 1 tablespoon of water and 1 tablespoon of sugar. When mixed well, pour on top of fish.
- serve hot
Done! :D
