Of Choices, Luxuries, Wants and Needs

We study hard, we work hard, we save, and finally, with whatever we save, we buy. The ultimate purchase for a normal employee would normally be something we call a home.

Well, we've done that. But it's really not as simple as just merely buying! After the purchase, there are legal and loan documents to be settled. Thereafter, the constant letters from the developer to pay this and settle that. And of course, there's the mortgage to pay for every monthl; not to mention the insurances, the quit rents and assessments, electricity bills, water bills, etc

And now we're at yet another stage where the house is finally handed-over to us. Will have to nag the developer to make-good the defects, decide how we want to extend the kitchen and the worst of all, we'll need to match our "wants" to our tiny little budget.

Got some contractors to quote on the renovation works and the quoted sum makes my knees go weak! Extend kitchen, RM5k, add tiles with manpower, RM3k, changes fencing/gate at the porch RM2.5k, wiring and electrical points not included. Plumbing works not included. If want auto gate, motor not included. Grilles not included. Electrical items not included. Furniture not included. *sigh*

It's really not easy being an adult. How nice if there's a money tree growing in my yard.
