The fifth checkup
Alright. Waited for almost 2 hours yesterday wanting eagerly to know how lil baby princess is doing inside. She kicked as if she was a midfielder of a soccer team or something while waiting the whole time. I guess its because there were lots of kids and babies everywhere in the hospital. I could feel her excitement and was really really so tired coz the bump kept moving and the ticklish feeling was so frequent!
Well, updates from Dr. Tan. The previous blood test did for me was good. Blood Group = B+, rubella antibody is still strong. Only prob is, Hyp B antibody no longer exist but of course (thank god) I do not have Hyp B. Haemoglobin level is normal, ie, at the reading of 11.5 (Doc says anything above 11 is good enough). Gained extra 3kg compared to my previous visit :P
As for lil princess, she weighs 500grams now! Approx 1.1 pounds, and that is 100% increase from the previous visit. A good sign :) During the scan, the doc showed us her tiny little fingers and this time round, we could even see her eyes, nose and lips!!!! OMG! If I wasnt there looking at the screen myself, I wouldnt believe that it's possible to see the baby's features during such an early stage!! Well of course we dont get to see the real thing or anything close to it.. but the 2D image was all it took to give comfort and excitement to both Dearie and I. The doc tried to capture a nice 3D image but the notty girl refuses to remove her lil hand to show us a nice profile. But Doc says she has a nice tall nose.. kekeke.. We could see the little one opening and closing her mouth, moving her fingers, kicking her legs, etc! Gosh.. so happy can cry, man! hehehe
Also asked the doc if we should get ourselves registered with the government hospitals. He said there's no need to do so coz should there by any complications, Britannia would send the mother to Kajang hospital themselves. The only reason why mothers should register themselves with the Government hospital is becoz the Govn subsidizes the cost should a baby needs to go into an incubator. And the reason for going into an incubator? Born prematurely, born with complications or infections or other unforseeable circumstances. Usually, the gynae would be able to ascertain if the baby would be born prematurely. In Britannia's case, should they forsee that a baby would be born before 34 weeks, the doc would advice the mother to go directly to Government hospitals and get themselves registered first, so that the Doc there would know. Reason being? ALL private maternity hospitals charges a cost of RM1,000 RM2,000 PER DAY should a baby goes into an incubator. And if a baby is born prematurely, it might need to be in an incubator for up to abt 25 days! So there! That explains it all.
Also asked if there's a blood bank within Britannia, to which Dr. Tan grinned and shook his head. He then took out a notice from the Government and showed it to us. Apparently, no private clinics are allowed to have their own blood bank. They can keep up to abt 2-5 packets of blood of each group, and that's it. Should a patient needs more blood, any hospitals would need to purchase the packets from the Government hospital at a cost of approx. RM40/pack. So, IF a mother decides to deliver via C-section, the doc would take a fee of RM100 from the mother for a standby of 2 packets of blood. and if there were to be any complications and the mother need a huge supply, the nurses will hop over to Kajang hospital to get them. Apparently, Britannia has very close connection with both Kajang and Serdang hospitals as Dr. Tan worked in Kajang Hospital before and he has associates in the Serdang one. And he says, all doctors in the Kajang/Serdang maternity wards are Chinese. Very efficient and cooperative. So there.. nothing to be worried abt (or so Dr. Tan reassures :P) We shall take it face value now.. and see if any further worries/question pops up.
Daddy got a contact from his student's mom on a lady that might be able to help during confinement. Will come for half a day, help to bathe the baby, cook and clean then cabut in the afternoon. Charges a fee of RM1,200. Sounds good, no? Shall try to call her tonight to see if she sounds ok. If everything goes well, this part-time CL together with a maid an support from Dearie and da Family, everything should be alright, yes? :)
