Days of being pregnant

Well, haven't had a real post on what's happening to me. Mainly becoz I cant stand looking at the computer screen and ...I think it's not too right to start the first post of the year complaining.

But heck, if I dont get it on with this one, my blog will never be updated.
So here it is... (oh, before I start, Siew Lan, mayb you shouldnt read this post :P )!!
On 27/12/07, went to Britannia Women and Children Specialist at Kajang Utama for a checkup to confirm if whatever Dr. Ravi said was true, ie, that I was pregnant. Met Dr. Tan, the ever-friendly gynae that makes as if shuffling something down there is the next most normal thing after breathing!

So there I was, lying on the bed to see what the heck was wrong with me. And all of a sudden, Dr. Tan said "Well look, that's your baby! and the small blinking dot is the heartbeat." As I was still frowning, dearie was smilling happily next to the doctor asking "what's this? what's that?"

And so well, Dr. Tan confirmed that I was 7 weeks pregnant at that point of time and the expected due date is to be on 14/8/08 (of which dearie said instantly, "oh! lets make it on 8/8/08"! ^&#@$%^^#)

Next, the Doc gave a list of symptoms that I shall be getting (of which I already had).. I think I had a 90% hit on the list he gave (nausea [terrible terrible nausea], difficulty in breathing, difficulty in sleeping, abdominal pains, chest pain, cramps, bleeding gums, body aches, etc etc). He also gave some vitamins and pills to secure the pregnancy, some anti-nausea pills yadda yadda...

Doc said I should rest and gave me a week MC and said he'll extend the MC if need be. At that point of time, I was thinking "wah.. one week MC and still extend? sure boh??? should be enough la". Little did I know that whatever he said would actually be applicable to me *darn*

The next few weeks were LITERALLY HELL!!!! Dad kept telling me "you're just pregnant, you're not sick!" But frankly, I've never felt this sick my entire life!!!! It's as if it's armageddon or something and I'm serious!!!!! (for those experience mothers, you can laugh all you want when u read this, but this is exactly how I'm feeling! I salute those females that could give birth as if it's the easiest thing to do. For me, I rather work 18 hours a day than to go through this several times in my life, man!) No matter how ready I said I was prior to this, nothing prepared me for THIS!

And because I could barely eat and was just constantly vomitting, I didnt get to celebrate Christmas and New Year. And not long after the new year, I was admitted to Brittania for dehydration. Dearie was there throughout the whole time and for that few weeks, that moment was the best I felt, ie, during the time I was on drips. No vomitting, I could eat, and I could sleep. But that didnt last long. After getting out from hospital, nausea came back.

I guess the situation improved a little after I drank the herbs prescribed by the Chinese Sinseh at Tung Shin hospital. (We resolved to trying out chinese med instead after I felt as if I was dying of vomitting :P Oh, have I mentioned that the toilet-bowl has been my best fren for the past month and dearie has a stool in all the toilets at home so that I can sit comfortably while puking?! :P ). We even went for prayers and got "fu" to bathe and all... but all to no avail.

By mid-January, we went back to Dr. Tan as I felt horrible and wanted to know if there's anything I could do to make myself feel better. I tell u, gynaes or all scientist in this world ought to work harder to workout some antidote for all these pregnancy symptoms, man!

When I told the doc of all my problems, he just smiled and said "my dear, all these are normal and there's nothing you can do. But rest assured, it'll all go away." LIKE DUH!!!! of course it'll go away! but when?!!?!?!? Of which he just smiled and said "everyone has got their own timing. some suffer more, some suffer less." DUNG!

Thereafter, he did something that made both dearie and myself happier. We had the scan and this time, instead of just seeing a dot inside me, we saw a small alien-like thingy with hands and feet. Doc showed us with the computer mouse cursor and said "ok, it's 10 weeks old and these are the hands and legs and the head and butt. It's growing well and the heartbeat is fine. Wanna hear it?" He then turned on the speaker and a loud "thum thum thum thum" sound played. It sounded like some old-fashion train or something but it was enough to make dearie smile from ear to ear :)

Work wise, I've been totally useless from the last week of Dec 07 till to-date. Not too sure what the company thinks but a colleague told me they're ok and reassured me to rest well. Hm, I'll just take it face value since there's really not much that I can do at this point of time :P

I've been terribly emotional these days (of which pregnancy books say it's absolutely normal!) The slightest thing makes me cry like a baby and I always feel like crying (gosh. this sounds so stupid!) I'm always feeling hungry (VERY VERY hungry) but my throat cant swallow! I get up in the middle of everynight feeling famished but dare not eat for fear I might need to run to the toilet and wake dearie. I wake up halfway thru the night panting as if I've just ran a 4x100 rally. I need to wee every 2 hours or so and it's blardy irritating! I cant stand the smell of food being cooked and I cant eat mom's cooking. I have this constant gastric feel below the ribcage and it doesnt go away even after eating/drinking. I cant stand the smell of perfume/deodorants. My lips cant stop cracking and it's blardy painful. I hate to be so totally dependant on dearie but I just cant help it.

Well, on a more thankful note, dear has been absolutely fabulously patient and unbelievable the whole time! Waking up everytime I toss/turn to ask if I need milo or anything, walking up and down when he's home hoping to make me just a little more comfortable, doing everything that needs to be done at home (sweeping, mopping, gardening, washing toilet/dishes, boiling water, serving kuanyin, ironing, etc etc etc) so that I can just lie down on the mattress or sofa while battling with puke, cracking his brain to think of things to buy to improve my appetite, buying pregnancy books for me to read so that I understand whatever that's happening to me, rubbing vicks/ointment for me when I cant breathe, massaging when I ache everywhere and well, in short, he was just there whenever I need him. Gosh! What will I ever do without him! He's just such a sweetie, I tell u! Sorry for the public declaration of affection, but then all these are so real!!! U know ppl always say, you see real love when u're in trouble? Well, if this is not real love, I dont know what is! :) So, my love, I'm sorry that I couldnt have a big bday celebration for u and your pressie had to be a belated one... I just wanna say Thank You for being there. There is a super long n winding road in front of us, but I guess, with you being just beside me, I'll be fine, just fine.
