Deeparaya.. here and away
I've been waiting for this stretch of "long holidays" for a long long timeee... ever since I got to know that there's almost a week off during this Deeparaya season.
Then again, the holiday week just came and gone just like that! *snap* I haven't even got a chance to sleep like a pig or eat like a swine!! Well, I blame it on the holiday breakers, ie Monday and Wednesday! Didn't manage to take leave for that two days as my other colleagues submitted their leave form before me! Damn!! $%^$%@ If only I had even that two days off, I'm pretty sure I would have got enough rest and would be at least looking more forward (if there's such english) going to work on Monday! and knowing that there's HQ meeting this Monday isn't helping to cure those Monday Bluez at all!!! damn again!
Well, thinking of it, what does Deeparaya mean to non-Hindus and Muslims like us? hm... it meant a time where we get clear traffic, holidays, more Hindu & Muslim movies on TV, going for supper at 1am and not worrying that I cant get up the next morning for work and watching vcds at 12midnight!!
People like me who has a very small social circle won't be able to get the feel of this festive seasons as I do not have many friends celebrating this festival! Then again, it's also a time where we get to spend extra time at home, with families and extended families. AND more importantly, it gives those who are not local a chance to "balik kampung". Take CM for instance, he takes these holidays to go back to Sitiawan to visit his mom and sisters. I cant say that going to Sitiawan is an ideal way to spend my holiday, but seeing him being so happy with his mom and sisters makes everything worth it. Before going to Sitiawan, I dread the feeling of going back as it's usually quite bored there... comparing the time spent there with happy times spent travelling to different states or highland or beaches, Sitiawan really seem like the most dreaded place! Then again, like I said, once I reach Sitiawan, the look on CM's mom's face and seeing them have those get-together dinners, well, I guess it's worth foregoing all the holiday plans.. we just have to give and take for people we love, right? :)
Well, I'm back home now and again, the feeling of "how-I-wish-the-holidays-have-just-started" is getting all over me! I really really am hoping that it's still Syawal Pertama, coz that means I still have a whole 4 days to pig out! hehehe.. then again, people say that "time passes fast when one's happy".. So, when these few days passed so quickly, I suppose I was "happy" one way or another eh? *thinking*
