Mis-positioned kneecap and bursitis!

That was exactly what Dr. Chin Chee Howe said when I saw him yesterday for my MRI Scan and X-Ray report.

He went through the films for the scan & x-ray and said "Good new for you, bad news for me. I won't be able to operate on you next week!"

I said "Thank you!" and grinned :)

He then continued to say the scans do not show any bad news, but it's very clear that my kneecap is not resting on the alley that it's supposed to. I told him I'm not feeling any pain at the kneecap area. How could it be my kneecap which is giving the problem? He said I have not felt the pain YET, but looking at the scan/x-ray, 5 or 10 years down the road, the pain will come and it will be bad! Besides, the real problem that is causing the horrible pain are the inflamed ligaments, medical term called "Bursitis". Dr. Chin said there are many reasons leading to bursitis and it's very difficult to pin-point the exact reason.

The way to cure it would be to go for electrotheraphy and be under medication. Theraphy is to help move my kneecap back to it's position and also reduce inflamation of the saraf-saraf, and the medication to treat the inflamation itself. I'll have to see Dr. Chin again 3 weeks later, and between this period, I'll have to go for (at least) 3 sessions of theraphy. Should the medication and theraphy go well, the pain SHOULD go off after 3 weeks. BUT if the pain still lingers, I might have to opt for an steroid injection directly into the knee. Bad option coz steroids are bad, but this option still sounds better compared to what Dr. Chin said next. HE SAID,..... should the injection give no effect, he'll have to operate on me to remove and "fix" the bursitis and at the same time position my kneecap while checking if there are any additional tissues that are present at my kneecap area. Pheww... horrible long sentence.. :P

Then again, after all the above explanation, Dr. Chin went on to say that it's not such a serious condition as I do not have any torn tissues or tumour on the knee. (and I should be really thankful for that). However, he too said that I was quite great to only go see him now coz having bursitis are actually very painful! HAH! A all these while I thought I beh tahan sakit! hehehe...

oh yea... he also gave me an ice/cold water bag.. am supposed to apply the icebag to my bursitis every day. Also gave me some gel and an elastic bandage look-alike. I'm to put on the bandage whenever I forsee I'm gonna walk alot or exercise, and apply the gel thereafter! HOPE I REMEMBER ALL THESE RULES!!!

orite.. I shall see happenes in 3 weeks... pray for me!! PRAYYY!!!!!
