"Do not let others rock our boat"

M: Why did u leave "K Dept"?
Me: I left because everyone in that department back stabs one another. Though they are on "the same boat", everyone's trying to maintain their own position by pushing others off the boat.
M: Exactly! We should not let that happen in our department! Protect yourself and make sure we do not let other rock our boat"

That was the conversation that I had with one of the bosses in my company. The department is getting bigger and bigger and that means office politics are becoming more and more serious and it's something which is unavoidable! HORRIBLE!

As much as I want to stay out from siding any parties, I dont think it'll be possible. It's hard to understand why corporate people have to fight their way to the top thru such ways and why there are people in big companies who have secured high positions without much apparent contribution. Not only are these situations unhealthy, it pisses everyone off! Moreover, it'll pull in innocent parties (like myself) and like it or not, juniors like us will be involved one way or another.

Boss said that I'll be transferred back to IGB either by 1st Dec 2005 or 1st Jan 2006. He says I originated from the HQ and it's peak time I go back. Though I'll be based back at 8th floor of Menara IGB, the management of Plaza Permata would still be parked under my wing. Am quite worried when boss said that coz there's currently no one taking over whatever that I will be leaving behind. Should they even find an administrative person now, I'll have only one month to offload my responsibilities to her! I am already pitying the girl that will come... oh.. poor girl...
However, 'm not too sure if I should be happy with this arrangement. With this, it means that I'm taking on a more managerial position and would be exposed to different sides of property management from HQ. However, the down side would be, I do not have full/total control of what's happening at Permata, but should anything bad happens (TOUCH WOOD), I'll still be held responsible. goshh.. scaredddddd...

Anyways, from the eye of any other colleague/friend, it'll look like I've been thrown here and there by my company. First it was from 21st Floor HQ (3 days) to 7th floor's Management Office (2 years). Thereafter to Plaza Permata (1 year) and then to "K Dept" (5 months). From there, I was posted back to Plaza Permata, and now, in abt 2 months, I'll be back at Menara IGB. People say that boss is chucking me everywhere, but deep down, I think I'm given a chance to learn. True enough that boss was blind to send me away from Permata after 1 year. He thought that since Permata has achieved 85%, he wouldn't need a marketing/mgmt exec there. However, 5 months was all it takes to make him realize that I AM important to Permata as problems were pilling up ever since I left. And so the reason for him to pull me back from "K Dept" to Permata. Something that I'm REALLY thankful for.. phew.. And now, I hope his decision is right this time when he's gonna hire a "better" admin person to help me manage Permata. I dont think I can bring myself through the process of going back to an office which has heaps and heaps of problems waiting to be solved! Tough, I tell ya! Should the plans go hair-wire this time n everything doesn't turn out like what boss plans, I'll just have to move on and not swallow the big chunk of shit down my throat again...
