Our White Tiger CNY...

(note: A VERY long post ahead.. skip if you dont want to sore your eyes :P)

People say the "White Tiger" is one of the fiercest animals as it "eats" every other animal in sight. So true, I tell ya! This white tiger banging in in year 2o10 is literally eating the Sheep, Monkey and Lil Mouse in my house! :P

2nd day of CNY: Left Sitiawan at around 3+pm only to reach Kajang at around 8+! Coastal roads were jammed but luckilly the highways were clear. Came home, freshen up and went to PakPak's place for dinner. Anne cried awhile when we first reach coz there were so many relatives there. After awhile, she got used to the environment and happily played at the garden.

3rd day of CNY: Rest abit at home during the early part of the day. Returned to DiMi's to kacau abit around the house and kitchen while Mi cooked and cooked and cooked for the rest of the extended family. Anne was still very much ok on the 3rd day. She mixed around quite well with the rest of the relatives, specially like Aunt Amy and Aunt Waverly! Was ok with Cousin Faye and Ryan as well. Not much luck with Uncle Kevin tho... the guy that makes her cry no matter where she sees him :P

4th day of CNY: Nightmare starts here. Anne cried and puked abit the night before. Guess she saw too many people over the last two days. Kept waking up at night with crying spells until she gagged and vomitted out the milk she drank. Was suppose to pay a visit to Ampang KauFoo and PoPo at Rawang. But becoz she barely slept the entire night, I went myself with DiMi and Xzan while dearie stayed home with Anne. Again, was suppose to visit YeePak at night but on the way out, realized Anne was having a temperature. Quickly came back home, gave her some fever syrup, sponged her abit and lulled her sleep.

At night, she started having runny nose and coughed alot.. so much so she vomitted all her milk on me after her midnight drink. Fever came up again and we had to force down the medication coz she was crying and struggling so much.

5th day of CNY: brought Anne to Dr. Chua. Doc said her throat was a little red but it didnt require antibiotics. Prescribed us with some runny nose, cough and fever syrup and told us to monitor the situation. Came home, gave Anne all the medication but she still wasnt feeling much better. Didnt help when she didnt know how to blow her mucus and cough out her phlegm. To make matters worst, both dearie and I were also down with sore throat and fever spells.

I consulted the doc and was told that my tonsils have inflamed and there were white spots around the throat. Gave me strong antibiotics and other relevant medication... Dearie also consulted the doc and got medication for his throat and cough as well..

6th day of CNY: nothing improved. Lil one still had runny nose, cough and fever, my throat wasnt getting any better and so was dearies. But we were more worried about the little one as she was having on/off fever. She complaints alot and cried many rounds. Throughout her 18 months, I dont think she ever cried this much!!! We thought she was feeling better as fever went off the day time.. but unfortunately, it came back in the evening and dragged on until later part of the day..

Due to the fact that both Dearie and I were unwell, we had Sue sleeping with Anne at night. We would lull Anne to sleep and after she is soundly asleep, would get Sue to bring her mattress over to our room and sleep with Anne while Dearie and I slept at the guest room.

7th day of CNY: Nothing much changed, we kept monitoring Anne's condition and there wasnt much changes. Crying spells were still as frequent, cough and runny nose still there. Night time were still a challenge when we try to keep the milk she has drank inside.

As for myself, I actually felt that my condition worsen. Went back to Dr. Soo and he said my throat was filled with white spots on the tonsils. Suggested that I changed antibiotics but had to purchase it from pharmacies as he didnt stock up on such strong medication as his patients barely needed them. He also said that if I dont feel better, it would be good to get an ENT's opinion and to get admitted ... geezzzz...

8th day of CNY: Anne cried for no reason in the morning... refused to stay in the house, kept taking the car keys and telling dearie that she wants to go "kai-kai"... she cried until we went up to the car and drove out of the porch.. After leaving the house, she stopped crying and slept in my arms... Since she was already asleep, we thought it'd be good to go home and let her sleep nicely in her bed. But once we drove back to the porch, she started crying again (with her eyes still closed!) We got abit worried and drove back to DiMi's instead. There, she was ok, even finished her porridge and had a nap. Seeing this condition, we decided to go for some prayers.

The medium said Anne "hak-dou" during the CNY period and gave us some "fu" for her to bathe and drink for the next 3 days. He also had something written on one of Anne's shirt where we were suppose to place it under her pillow for 6 days and have it worn on the 7th. Also, he looked some books and said Anne was born with "2 swords", one pointing at her, and another at myself and dearie. With these swords, Anne will have to face quite some obstacles during her childhood and the way to help the situation was to "bend" the swords. Since we didnt know what else to do, we agreed and had the medium help us to bend the swords that came with Anne's time/day of birth. The prayers to bend the swords lasted for 3 days and on last Friday, we went back to the medium to have the fu from the ceremony. He gave us something us some prayers stuff to sweep on Anne's body (head down - 3 times) and thereafter to burn and have it bathed with, and a Fu for Anne to wear throughout this one year. Hopefully, with this, the Chinese side of things would be taken care of...

Call us superstitious, but for Anne, we'd try anything!

9th day of CNY: CM and I werent feeling better. Finally agreed to see an ENT specialist at KPJ Kajang. The doc said I'm on the road to recovery while CM had to take proper care as his throat is very likely to get as serious as mine if he didnt take the right precaution and medications. A simple diagnotics with a few tables and spray and gargle... cost us RM100 (for me) and RM200 (for dearie) geezzzzzzz..... really "specialist"! We have Anne sent back to DiMi's most of the time as we didnt want out germs to be passed on to her. She was getting better...without so much mucus and phlegm, but still on-off fever. Xzan also caught the bug...had sore throat and was starting to cough :S

10th day of CNY: CM and I were still on MC. Went to the Kedai Ubat Cina to try chinese medication instead. Anne was also placed at DiMi's.

11th day of CNY: Started work. Not feeling much better. Dearie started to cough his lungs out!!!!
Anne's fever still came off and on. Realized that fever usually came at night, around 8+ and would go off and come back throughout the night, and will go away the next morning around 11am or so ... sighh... Di says these are signs that a child "hak dou" ..

At night, we measured Anne's temperature and it read at 39.1 degrees!!!!! All of us got a shock and contemplated sending her straight to the hospital. But because she was still active and could eat and sleep, I suggested that we give her the fever syrup and wait till the next morning before sending her back to Dr. Chua. Luckily, after she took the medication, fever came down. Up till today, Sue was still sleeping with Anne at night.

12th day of CNY: Dearie brought Anne back to Dr. Chua early in the morning. Doc said Anne's throat was red and prescribed antibiotics this time. We asked if there was necessity to take a blood test to rule out denggue. He said no need coz the symtoms doesnt look like one. No more runny nose and cough though... But we had red throat syrup together with fever and an antibiotic.

13th day of CNY: Public holiday. Anne was ok during the day.. no fever, no flu and cough. Everyone was keeping our fingers crossed that it would be that way. Dearie was still coughing like crazy while my throat still itches.

At night, had our annual coursemate gathering that Marche, The Curve. Was a great dinner as quite a number of us turned up. Would be nicer if more of our batch could make it, but nvm... there's always next time :)

Came home at around mid-nite. Anne has a tiny bit of temperature. Gave her meds and she went to bed nicely.

14th day of CNY: Since everyone was feeling a little bit better, headed to Thien Hou temple for prayers. Anne seem to have a good time, but towards the end of the visit, her temperature came back. Quickly came home, gave her her medication and hm.. after awhile, fever went off. At night, had dinner with DiMi and Xzan and during dinner, again, fever came back but went off by itself 2 hours later... goshh...

Anne has been a really good girl. She takes her medication without fuss. Would just need us to pujuk her a little and she'll take all 7 spoons of syrup without crying/struggling.

Also, she's growing up to be a very understanding girl... Dearie exlplained to her that we need to use the ear thermometer to test her temperature so that we know she's alright. (She's VERY scared of the thermometer.. VERY VERY scared!) Prior to this, she would cry and run away the moment she sees the thermometer. But today, after Dearie explained to her, she voluntarilly let him put the thermometer into her ear.. She looks scared (as in she'll close her eyes shut and shrink her shoulders), but she let her Papa measure her temperature... we repeated the process a few times and she was ok with it... such an angel!!

15th day of CNY: today. Dearie went to Dr. Ravi today. Doc suggested to get a jab to quicken the recovery process. Gave him different medication. Hopefully it works. As for Anne, still off-on fever. Antibiotics would be finishing today. Contemplating bringing her to the paed again tomorrow. Whether to go back to the same paed? Do we insist on a blood test? Sigh... I really dunno.

So that was the new year. No cold drinks. No visits. No CNY goodies. No gambling. No movies (oh but we did manage to watch two DVDs over the many many days at home :P). No celebration. In short, NO CNY.

But that's alright. As long as Anne recovers, I dont mind not celebrating. Pls... pls let Anne recover. It has been almost two weeks now. It's not right for a person that young to be sick for so long! It's not right that a child suffers so much during the festive period! Pls recover...
