Std 1 primary registration

It felt like only yesterday when we registered Jyn into his Kindy. In a blink of an eye, its time to register him for his primary school.

For all kids in Selangor, registration for std 1 starts when the kid is 5yo. Registration opens in the Ministry of Education's (MOE) website on 1 March every year and parents are given 1 month to register online. It is only in Selangor where this process is applicable. In the online registration form, we will need to key in details of the child, details of parents, household income and the preferred school. Once completed, a copy will have to be printed out for submission to the selected school within 2 weeks of the online submission date.

When submitting the hard copy to school, documents required to be attached are as follows:
- online registration form (printed copy)
- copy of child's birth cert (to bring along ori birth cert so that the school can chop on the back of the birth cert that you have registered in the school)
- copy of IC for both parents
- copy of electricity or water bill under parents name (as proof of address)
- copy of parents' marriage cert
- self address small envelope with 60cents stamp
- some schools require employment confirmation letters from the companies but the school we applied for did not require this.

When in the school, we will have to fill up a simple form stating the details of the child and parents again.

I have submitted the whole application to the school this week for Jyn's school term in year 2018. By Aug this year, we will get the reply from MoE if we are given the school of our choise or a separate school. Should it be a separate school, parents are given 3 mths to make an appeal. If the selected school is given, all's good.

Just for note, Jyn was the 38th student registered in the school for term 2018 :) what an auspicious number! Haha
