Another checkup

Went for the scheduled checkup yesterday; this time between an interval of 3 weeks instead of a month.

Did the last ultra-sound of the pregnancy as after this, the next visit would be an internal scan and there after, just listening of heartbeats and waiting for the lil one to arrive.

We couldn't see Ving Anne's face from the monitor anymore coz the doc said she would have most probably engaged by now. Dr. Tan showed us what appears to be her pair of kidneys and lungs from the screen instead and said that there's not much room for lil Anne to move about anymore.

I've only increase abt 1kg from our last checkup, and baby Anne is still slightly under-weight; ie at approx. 2.2kg (according to the growth chart, 2.2kg is supposed to be her weight at 34 weeks, but we're at 36 now) sigh. Doc said to eat more.. more fish, more meat.. and make sure I continue the vitamins and calcium/iron pills.

The thing is, it's difficult to eat nowadays due to the constant heartburn that I feel. I cant sleep at night and I feel like I'm burning inside after meals. I have stopped eating spicy food 'coz even chilli sause taste absolutely hot at this stage! Dont even try tempting me with tomyam or asam laksa!

Doc was abit serious when he spoke to us this time round. Kept repeating that at this stage, the 2 most important thing to keep track are :-
1) the mommy's blood pressure (which is fine and in control)
2) the baby's movement (via the Movement Chart)

He reiterated that should I feel the lil one move less than 10 times before 9pm everyday, I'm to immediately go to the hospital and get the midwifes to check if everything's ok.

Also mentioned that I will need to practice pelvic floor exercises and walk more so that I'll have an easier delivery. To which I just rolled my eyes coz moving is such a burden now! I think he saw me making funny faces, so he continued to say "I know it hurts to walk. You'll have backaches, your tummy will feel heavy, your private part will ache and you'll feel like you're dragging yourself. But if you want your pelvic bone to allow the baby to come through naturally, then you'll have to try". So well, ok.. I shall try. I'm not too sure what pelvic bone exercises he meant coz I've never attended yoga classes. So I'll just stick to the simple "support-my-back-on-the-wall-and-squat-down-then-get-back-up" routine. Then apparently, walking up and down the stairs does the trick also. Doc told dearie to bring me shopping as well so that I'll walk. Gosh! Crazie meh! Shopping?!!?!?!? I think I'll get him to bring along those airport trolleys when we go to the malls lah. So that in anytime that I feel like my legs are failing me, I can just hop on to the trolley and he can push me back to the car.. haha :P

After consulting the doc, we asked the nurses if we could have a look at the labour room. Well, the books say I should have a look before I actually go into labour so that I'll know what's in for me! So well, the very kind nurse brought us to Level 2, where they have 3 Labour rooms; one of it with a small pool. Dearie asked the nurse naively "how come you have a swimming pool here?" hehehe.. the nurse replied "Oh.. that's for mummies who choose to deliver in water. Not frequent in Msia but there are cases like that."

Geezz.. I've read about delivering in water, but it didnt cross my mind that Britannia has this facility! Anyway, there it was. 2 labour rooms, 1 operation room and 1 "swimming-pool" room. :)

Then we proceeded to Level 1 to have a look at the babies. Apparently, 4 babies were delivered on that same day. Saw 3 of them and they were just lovely. All wrapped tightly and sleeping soundly in the baby room :) Approx 4 weeks down the road, our baby Anne will be there too :) :)

Next checkup would be 2 weeks from now! It's getting nearrreeeerrrrrrrr!!!
