A big hoo-haa

The past weekend had been really awful. Started off when Dearie got fever on Thursday. He went to our usual GP, Dr. Ravi, and was prescribed with some medicine. However, fever didn't subside but temperature escalated instead. Rushed him to the ER at KPJ Hospital at 3am on Friday midnight (Saturday morning actually) and was given a jab. I didn't know what else to do coz he was shivering in cold one minute and was sweating profusely the next. And to make matters worst, he started vomiting. gosh.. scared the shit outta me!

Miraculously, he instantly felt better after the jab. But the cure wasnt for long. On Saturday, the fever came back. I felt so helpless as he was feeling so uneasy and uncomfortable and there was nothing that I could do to make him feel better. So at about 2pm, I went to Dr. Ravi to seek some advise. Doc said we cant be sure of what's making him feel so uneasy unless we have a blood test. Of course the main reason to have the test is to rule out denggue. The word that sends shivers down all our spine (coz me, dear, xzan and di were all down with denggue before and it's damn shitty!! DAMN ALL AEDES!!!!) However, the kan-cheong thing was, it's a Saturday and most of the test-labs work half day. There's only one that opens till 6, which is Gribbles at Bangi, but the despatch has already left. And according to Gribbles, the last test that they do for the day is at 2.30pm. So ok ok... I told the Doc I'd bring dearie in that moment, he extract the blood and I'll send it to the lab myself. And wallaa.. drove like a F1 driver back to the house, brought dearie to the clinic, took the blood and zoom off to Gribbles. I drove so quickly, I got car-sick eventho I was driving myself! hahaha.. Reached Gribbles at 2.35pm but Dr. Ravi was kind enough to tell the lab to wait for me. At the door, the lab assistant asked "Ni urgent ke?", to which I replied with a VERY serious face "SANGAT urgent!" .. then she said "ok-lah. Saya buat sekarang. You duduk kejap. Nanti bawa report bagi doctor explaine."

and so in 5 minutes, we got the report and returned to Dr. Ravi. Thank God, dear's blood palettes were fine and so we could rule out denggue for that moment (but we must still be careful coz sometimes, denggue fever only show after a few days.)

So Doc said it must be either viral or bacterial fever. There's nothing much we could do coz if it's viral, dear's antibody would have to fight it off himself. But that fellar is already soooo weak! Mana datang antibody!? So we ask the Doc if he could put him on drips so that he'll feel better. He said he could but the cure wouldn't be permanent. It'll just boost his energy and make him feel slightly better, but he'll still have to fight off the virus himself. So ok... he went on drips. Had 4 packets all together. Glucose, saline, medication, jabs and what-nots. Was on the surgical bed in one of the rooms in the clinic from 3pm right until 9.30pm. I was there on and off.. left for home to rest abit at 5pm and returned to the clinic at 7pm.

And the worst? It was Di's birthday on Saturday!!! Didn't manage to have a nice dinner celebration with him as planned.. but promise that the dinner will NOT be cancelled.. it'll be postponed until Dearie recovers and dear will be buying all of us instead! keke..

At home, the patient was like a big-baby. Couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, coughing his lungs out, whinning and sweating and feeling cold every other minute. The usual me, who needs support and be pushed up the staircase, miraculously could climb up and down the staircase kazillion times over that few days as if I didn't had this big bump in front of me! It was darn tough being strong for him at this moment coz I feel so vulnerable myself! Here I am, having backaches, headaches, calf-aches and tummy-aches all over... and there I have to put up a "I'm-ok-don't-worry" face. Running up and down the stairs, making hot drinks in the middle of the night, watering plants, making sure he's comfortable and changes his shirt when it's wet.. whoa.. not easy man.. I mean, it'd be easy if I werent 9 months pregnant! But but.. with me being such a dramaqueen.. hehe.. aihh.. I'm just glad that Dearie's back to himself again..

He has since recovered. No more fever. No more sweating for no apparent reason. But the cough's still there. I can now go back to my manja self. Asking him to push me up the house staircase and pulling me up in the middle of the night to go wee-wee. hehe.. Gosh.. NOW I feel lucky to have such a wonderful hubby.. hehe..

Note to dear: pls dont get sick again... you scare the hell out of me! hehehe.. mwah!
