Baby's milestones

It can be quite taxing as a mother when you compare your child against other babies similar of age. Especially so when it's in terms of milestones.

As new mothers, we subscribe to newsletters to gauge what our babies should/shouldnt do when they reach a specific age. There are pros and cons. Pros would be, we would know briefly what to expect. Cons would be if our darlings are late bloomers and dont exhibit what we expect until much later, we'll be concerned and worried.

For Anne's case would be flipping herself, pulling herself up and crawling. (hm.. actually to think of it, teething as well).

According to all the books/forums/newsletters that I read, babies are "suppose" to have experienced all the above from 6 months onwards. Focus on the word "onwards" coz almost all articles reiterate at the very end of the page that "Milestones vary among babies. Fret not if the development is slightly delayed".

However, being a mother, especially one that likes to pop-by blogs of other mommies, cant help but begin to worry when my little precious dont seem to progress as per the general milestone-chart. Other babies start to crawl at 7 months.. hold/eat biscuits at 7.5 months.. teeth at 5 months etc... But mine? Hm..

I do not want to be paranoid and start thinking about issues like autism, cerebral palsy, etc..
So the only thing that soothes me now are articles like this and this

Hopefully, everything will be on track when Anne goes for her 1-year old consultation at the Paed. Meanwhile, I'll just keep monitoring and keep my fingers crossed that all will be fine :)

Happy Wesak Day all! :)
