Fictions...
Attracted by the way Fong described the book, requested dearie to buy it for me.
The Pact, by Jodi Picoult. What can I say? It's trully a good book, coz I couldn't put the book down, I was always thinking about the storyline and the words used by Picoult to describe love, pain and sadness. Looked forward to going to bed everynight as that was the only time I can totally concentrate on the words and versus used.
However, didn't like the lingering feeling after reading the book. Didn't like the fact that love had to be so painful between the 2 charactors in the fiction; Chris and Emily. Picoult described Chris' pain so vividly that I could feel my own heart ache even after closing the book. The writer described the many sides of love; the happy, the romantic, the silly and thoroughly; the sad and scary side.
I particularly like this paragraph:-
"I, urm, I have this problem. I broke up with my boyfriend, you see. And I'm very upset about it, so I wanted to talk to my best friend." She swallowed hard. "The thing is, they're both you."
Wahhh!!! Can you feel it? (aih.. of course you cant coz u havent read the book!) But it's really something! I felt goosebumps upon reading the above and started tearing :P
and this other one did the trick as well:-
"My whole life was about her. What if her whole life wasn't all about me?"
*sigh*
Though I could somewhat figure out the ending, I wasnt totally satisfied with it. But I couldn't ask more as the heroin, did after all, die at the beginning of the story. I couldn't possibly bring her back to life to make the story less painful.
I hope no one would need to go through the type of pain Chris and Em went through, particularly, the sadness and burden of Chris'. No one deserves to go through such pain.. absolutely no one.
