A special Merdeka
Merdeka 2007 has a slightly different meaning for me. This Merdeka, I celebrate independence of my career. I'm no longer tied to IGB, no longer tied to MV. Am independent now and will be for the next few weeks :)
Last day in IGB was on 30/8/07. Abit of a coincidence that I left together with the boss man. It was really REALLY difficult. Couldn't bring myself to say goodbye to all my dear fellow colleagues. I kept giving everyone the excuse that I'll be seeing them again the week after coz I'll have to return the company documents (access cards, car park tix, etc), so there isn't a need to bid goodbye. Actual fact is I do not have the courage to do so. I couldn't even look at the close colleagues in their eyes coz the lump in the throat was as big as a tornado!! (ok.. lousy personification, but I dont care :P )
Sent an email to all colleagues, tenants and contractors that I'll no longer be in MV and got kazillion replies with all the "WH" questions... None of which I replied coz time was running out. Finally, grabbed all my stuff (well, almost all.. I didn't have enough hands to take my mug, my pillow and my hand cream .. hehe), told everyone that I'll be leaving to Permata and zoomed off! Got a call from JW in the car and she said she was close to tears when she saw me walking out the office. (She was on the phone and I didn't wait for her b4 stepping out). No matter if she was joking or was serious, my tears just flowed freely when she said so. The fact is, I really do miss the people there (or rather, MOST of the ppl/colleauges in mv... it's only less than a handful that are pure asses)
At Permata, handed over whatever I could to SS and Lubna. Will be tough for both of them coz I only had 2 days to handover everything I have to them. But I'll always be there for Permata as it was a stepping stone for me. If it wouldnt be for Permata, I wouldnt be where I am now.
When I officially left Permata, got sms-es from JA,LW, Winnie, etc wishing me luck yadda yadda and AGAIN, tears flowed freely and it lasted right until I reached home.. crazy, right? The emo-ing only stopped when dearie came home and when we reached home and when I was surrounded by my family. Half a year ago, I couldnt even imagine how it would be to leave the company. Even thinking abt it would make me sad... who would have imagined that half a year later, I ACTUALLY really tendered my resignation. Despite its flaws, I truly enjoyed working with the company. Despite having a stern boss, I cant deny that he has taught me well and I've learn so much under his supervision. Despite having a**hole colleagues, I've gained so many real lovely friends within the organization... so you see, with so many positives compared to negatives, how not to be emo?? Many would ask, "it it's really so good, y leave?". Well, I shall not explain /answer that here coz it's too complicated.
When we drove past MV today, I still cant help but look at both the Centrepoint and wonder "why is this floor having lights on at this hour?", "How come there's lights on top of the building?", only to realize that all these are no longer my concern and I shall not look back anymore.
My path in IGB:-

Year 2000: Practical training at Menara Tan & Tan - Asset Management Division
Year 2002: Started working with IGB in the Building Management Division of Menara IGB/Signature Offices
Year 2004: Transferred to Plaza Permata Management
Year 2005 (May): Transferred to Kondoservis, while still having Permata under my portfolio

Year 2007 (July): Temporarily adopted Sri Murni Condo under my portfolio while having Permata and Centrepoint
Year 2008 (Aug): Tendered resignation
Year 2008 (30/8/07): Last day...
This chapter shall be closed and it'll be closed with all happy memories. Goodbye IGB.
